Carolina's Road to Recovery

Valia and Jose Gonzalez are organizing this fundraiser on behalf of their niece, Carolina.

Friends and Family,

This beautiful young lady is Carolina (my niece), she is 19 years old and very bright. Carolina was and continues to be a great daughter, she was a make-up artist and student. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, listening to music and dancing.

Early this year in January, she had a severe car accident causing a traumatic brain injury called Diffuse Axonal Injury (DAI), which occurs when the brain moves backward and forward quickly inside the skull. Carolina is currently stable but cognitive abilities such as recognition, speech are limited and she cannot walk.

She is facing a very long road that will take patience, strength and needs intensive rehabilitation and a recovery program of speech, physical and occupational, recreational therapy, and adaptive equipment training and counselling.
