This past fall, history was made at the University of South Carolina as the first-ever Women's Ice Hockey Team hit the ice. After a long and overdue process starting back in 2022, the South Carolina Women's ice hockey team played their first game this past October and won. Not only was this the first-ever women's collegiate ice hockey game for the University of South Carolina, but it was the first-ever women’s collegiate hockey game played in the state of South Carolina. Since then, the women of this historic team have been working and practicing tirelessly to achieve their goal of making it to the playoffs. After traveling to Georgia in December and defeating the Bulldogs 11-3, our girls were officially seeded for playoffs! This year playoffs are held in Nashville, Tennessee, which will be a fun yet expensive trip for our girls. Being that it is the team's inaugural year, the biggest struggle for our girls has been proper funding. Without any funding from the school, we face challenging obstacles to overcome regarding everyday expenses, to bigger-picture expenses. We want to continue to grow this program and to reach our goal of making it to playoffs, but we cannot do that without your help and support. Help our girls get to Nashville and continue to grow the game at the University of South Carolina!!
