Those of you who know Carole probably know her as a unit clerk at Saanich Peninsula Hospital. She is usually found at the center of a supportive effort bringing us together and acting as a crusader when a colleague is in need. Her eccentric personality, overflowing creativity, and laugh are often not forgotten. But she may be best known for her immeasurable love for her daughter Miranda.
Miranda was born with a complicated gastroenterology condition that has caused many hospitalizations and surgeries. Due to her condition, it is tough for Miranda to eat and get proper nutrition, which has led to malnutrition. Recently she was prescribed PPN (Partial parenteral nutrition) to assist with getting adequate nutrition. Unfortunately, everything that could be done here on the Island has been tried. Carole and Miranda were just referred to the University of Calgary Gut Motility Clinic to see if their super-specialized gastroenterologists would be able to help Miranda in any way. With Miranda's condition, it is tough to travel via air, so their only option is to travel by car. This fund would be used to help as a treatment/travel fund for them to travel to Calgary or any other facility that could help Miranda.
Her dedication to Miranda has been 100%, through thick and thin; Carole has been by Miranda's side every step. So if you can donate even a couple of dollars, it would be greatly appreciated. We will provide updates as they become available.
Update #1: Carole has been made aware of this gofundme, and thanks everyone for their support!
Kind Regards,
Duncan and Sarah
