Carol Zaloom, Lino-cut artist, was known for, among many other qualities, her many and varied cat companions. Ten years ago one of Carol's son's rescued a tiny black kitten whose mother had died. Poe became a fixture in the Zaloom household, regarding Carol and Mik as his "parents" and Chris as his "uncle".

When Carol died and Mik moved away, Poe and his Poppa Chris lived alone on the wooded property. Since Poe hid from almost all visitors very few got to know him but those few that did know what an affectionate and soulful fur-bearer he is.

This week Poe was diagnosed with two tumors; they are causing internal bleeding thus anemia, pain and lowered energy.

We are seeking funds for his surgery to remove the tumors followed by chemo to restore his health.
