Help Carol Culver during a difficult period
Donation protected
On October 1, Carol's partner Jeff was admitted to emergency and 6 hours later went into ICU at Wilcox Hospital. His CLL (Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia) had taken a sudden and rare turn for the worse. Monday night, October 2, Jeff was medi-vac'd to Straub Medical Center on Oahu. Carol found out on October 3 that he was there on life support! She flew to join him immediately.
After almost a week in ICU on life support, he was transferred to the cancer ward and started to undergo a series of treatments and medications to stabilize him and get him onto a new cancer treatment that he would need to continue once returning home.
Besides CLL, Jeff suffers from extreme sound sensitivity, which can produce seizures in him because he also has a form of epilepsy. Most people have little awareness that there is such a condition and often little compassion for the effects certain sounds have on him. If he was going to come off life support and make it home, he needed Carol by his side to help advocate for proper care.
Carol had to pay for car and accomodations on Oahu for almost three weeks and had to cancel all work during that time.
Jeff’s medical bills have been taken care of but this has left Carol very precarious financially and she had to make many additional arrangements for Jeff to return home.
Now home, they are having major electric problems at the house they rent, leaving them with no hot water or major appliance use. The landlord refuses to pay the $1000 required to fix it because he is currently fighting with the county over back taxes. To get electricity, they have to make the repairs.
Carol and Jeff have contributed countless gifts to the island ohana. Please help me help them during this time where they need us to dig deep for them, and for all of us ultimately.
