Hi, my name is Josette. I am raising funds on behalf of my mother, Carol Ann. I wanted to share her story with the hope of helping her not only financially but also spiritually through the power of prayer.
On November 11th, my mother injured herself while getting into her bed. She fractured her right clavicle. She was taken to the hospital. While there, a chest x-ray was done, and nodules were discovered in her lungs. She was admitted, and a biopsy was done. While waiting for the results, my mother was placed in a rehab facility to help her recover from her injury. She was unhappy with the facility, and my sister Jennifer and I decided to move her to another facility that promised to treat her better. We soon discovered that the new facility was worse than the first. We brought our concerns to the hospital staff, social workers and administrators. Because of the fractured clavicle and her bone-on-bone arthritis (in both knees), my mother could not get up to use the bathroom. Therefore she had to be changed by the aides. Our major problem, among others, with the facility, was that she would be forced to wait anywhere from half hour to two hours in her own waste before the aides would come to change her. This was a humiliating and physically painful experience for her. We were witness to this neglect. We decided that the best place for her was at home with us.
All the while this was taking place, the day before Thanksgiving, we were notified that the biopsy showed invasive adenocarcinoma (lung cancer). It is suspected of having already spread to her liver and spine. My mother is now home and my sister, and I are acting as her aides. Unfortunately, my mother only has medicare and does not qualify for medicaid. Medicare will not pay for an in-home health aide and will only cover about ten days of at-home physical and occupational therapy. In addition, she requires a hospital bed and other medical supplies that are not fully covered by medicare. The funds we hope to raise will be used for medical supplies, hospital and doctor visits, ambulette transportation, and other health treatment costs. My mother intends to fight this disease, but we also know it will be difficult. She has great faith in God and knows He has a purpose for everything and that He is in control. With great humility, we are asking for you to donate to our mother's cause. Please share this plea on your social media accounts and, most importantly, pray for her during her time of need.
"My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth... Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow... But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint... My comfort in my suffering is this; Your promise preserves my life." (Psalm 121:2, Isaiah 1:17, Isaiah 40:3, Psalm 119:50)
Thank you, and may God bless you.
