Carly’s transition & living expenses fund ❤️

Donation protected
Hey besties!

My name is Carly Yvoty Fernandez (purrr)

I’ve decided to launch a GoFundMe to help cover the costs of my medical transition and living expenses.

She’s dolling up hunny so y’all better get readyyyy!!!

This hasn’t been a decision that I’ve made lightly. I’ve struggled a lot with the idea of having to ask people for support, especially in a monetary sense, as growing up working class. the idea of being independent, and never asking for help or money - as that would make you look weak - was instilled in me since a very young age. However I’ve come to the realisation that asking for help when you need it, is not a sign of weakness, but a sign of strength, as I’m finally recognising that I can’t do this alone.

As you may or may not know, navigating and accessing the health system in the UK as a trans person, is extremely challenging, not just for the lack of training, support and understanding from people working in the health industry, but also because it’s super mentally, physically, emotionally and financially taxing.

I have tried really hard to cover most of the transition costs by myself, which included the Gender Dysphoria Diagnosis (£600), other medical procedures and medications (£800). Even though it had its challenges, I was able to do it, but now having to work a 0 hour contract, where working hours are not guaranteed, rent and living expenses going up and without access to financial support from my family, it has reached a point that, even if I try super hard, I won’t be able to make it and that’s why I’m asking for your help.

I’m finally able to access proper medical care through The London Transgender Clinic, (we love to see it) and after a long wait, my first appointment is due to happen on the 31st of March 2023.
This appointment will jump start my journey to access medication in a safely manner, as some of you may not know, but I have been self-medicating for the last few months.

These funds will not only cover my initial consultation, prescriptions, other medical procedures (such as facial laser hair removal and pocket money for a future ffs) but it will also go towards my rent and other medical bills that have been postponed for more than 2 years due to the fact of not having enough money to cover them and due to having been focused on starting my transition with a private practitioner as it’s been 3 years since I’ve been referred to the GIC, with no progress whatsoever.

I completely understand that it’s not possible for everyone to donate in the current economic landscape, with every person having to deal with the fall out of the government’s ineptitude in protecting us, but I’m asking that if you can’t donate, to please share or tell someone about it and hopefully this will be able to reach people who are able to donate.

Whether you share, donate or talk about it, please know that I’m thankful from the bottom of my heart, for taking the time to hear me and my long ass paragraphs, because at this point it’s giving dissertation hunny!!

Thank you, Aguije, Muchas Gracias mis amores ❤️️‍⚧️
