Carly's Law in Canberra

My name is Sonya Ryan. Almost 10 years ago my beautiful daughter Carly was murdered by a child predator who targeted her online. She was only 15 years old. 

I’ve since dedicated my life to fighting for children’s safety online, establishing the Carly Ryan Foundation. Right now I’m pushing for Carly’s Law to become a federal law. 

Carly’s Law would make it a crime for an adult to lie about their age online to a minor, with the intent to meet that child. It’s unbelievable - but this isn’t currently a crime. 

Last week I went to Parliament House in Canberra for Carly’s Law to be debated in the Senate. All sides of parliament agreed to back the need for it, but are still discussing the details of the law before it can be passed. 

I’ve been asked back to Canberra to meet with the Prime Minister’s office and other key Ministers - an incredibly important next step. But I don’t have the money to get there. 

My Foundation has no government funding and I’m on a minimum wage. Any amount of money you could chip in to help me get there would be appreciated more than you’d know.
