Suicide seems to be a word that makes people uncomfortable, yet suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death of young people ages 15-24. Knowledge is power and talking about suicide provides the opportunity for communication and education.

Losing Carly to suicide has taught me many things. Parents don’t get over losing a child. The world becomes a different color.

But I have experienced happiness with my beautiful daughters, my dear husband, grandchildren and all the animals on our farm. I think Carly is here with me every day and enjoying every sunset and all the beauty we have around us.

This scholarship fund was made in Carly’s honor and memory. The scholarship reaches out to senior high school students. To qualify, they must include an essay regarding mental health and how this has affected them and their family. This will be our sixth year of giving out scholarships and reaching out of 100’s of students regarding suicide and mental health. Please do what you can to keep this scholarship going. Thank you.
