Greetings, I'm Barbara Waite, and I'd like to share our recent journey. My husband, Carl Waite, has been undergoing medical care, spending the last six weeks in both a hospital and a rehabilitation center. While he's made progress, he's still quite weak. Now, he's recovering at home.
Regrettably, Carl's leg strength hasn't fully returned, making it difficult for him to stand up and move from his chair. This has led to some close calls, with him nearly falling on several occasions. We attempted to secure a power lift recliner through our insurance company to assist him in safely transitioning from a seated to a standing position. However, our request was denied, with the insurance deeming it a "non-medical necessity".
Additionally, upon returning home, Carl was provided with a standard-sized walker, which is far too short for a tall man like him, standing at 6 feet 6 inches. Yet, once again, our insurance has refused to provide a "bariatric" size walker, which is what he genuinely requires.
We find ourselves in need of financial assistance to purchase a Power Lift Chair, which costs $750.00, and a Bariatric Walker, priced at $75.00. These essential items will greatly improve Carl's safety and mobility at home. In addition, we are burdened with a $1,175.00 hospital bill, and with our limited income, we are sincerely hoping for support in this regard as well. However, our primary focus remains on acquiring the power recliner chair and bariatric walker.
If you are in a position to offer a donation, it would be greatly appreciated. If not, we kindly ask for your thoughts and prayers during this challenging time, and if possible, please share our story with your own family and friends. Your support and assistance, in any form, will mean the world to us as we strive to make our home safe and comfortable for Carl's recovery. Thank you for your consideration.
