Hey everybody!
As some of you may know, I've been dealt a pretty ugly hand having immigrated to America when I was 10. I've had to forge my own path and believe in myself undoubtedly just to be able to achieve anything.
Never in my wildest dreams did I think that as a child of a single mother would I be able to attend college, and due to my perseverance and my ardent dreams of making my films come to live, I've been accepted into a rigorous directing track at ArtCenter in LA :). I didn't do that well in High School, due to my mom being a foreigner and struggling to feed us, the stress was unimaginable- but I wanted to push on as my fantasies always lead me to fight through my boundaries. For ArtCenter to accept me due to my portfolio alone is such an immense compliment, and needless to say I'm very excited to be the first person in my family to get a degree that will likely change my life.
Unfortunately, I've reached an impasse- Due to the neglect of being a first-generation American, my family never had the tools to genuinely pursue dreams this big. And while I should be celebrating this massive achievement, I am quite stressed at how difficult paying for this is going to be. So as embarrassed as I am, I'm asking for a little bit of help for me to change mine and my family's life.
I share the same birthday as some of the worlds top directors, like Sofia Coppola, George Lucas, Robert Zemeckis... so I have a long line of precedent for my career choice. Which means that I'll definitely be coming for these people and have my name added to this list!!
I got accepted the first week of January, and classes started the 14th, so my turn around time was very quick! While I'm searching for student loans, I'm hoping I don't lose my ability to participate in anything the school has to offer due to lack of funds.
