Carlos Porter Final Expenses
Donation protected
September 6, 1960 was a big day for me. It was my First Day of School; Bowman Elementary School to be exact. I had never been around 40+ 6 year olds in my life. Everything was new to me. I was terrified and excited at the same time. I settled in to this new experience.
During recess, the class was running a relay type game. Not being a particularly fast runner, we lost our lead and were falling behind. I tagged the next guy in line, who blazed down and back fast enough to regain our lead and we won. I decided to become friends with that guy. That guy was Carlos Wayne Porter, and true to my resolution, we have been close friends ever since. 57+ years. Thick and thin, good and bad, 10 speeds, motorcycles and cars, we remained friends. Carlos was easy to like. Throughout Grade School, High School, and Sierra College he made many friends.
And that is why I’m writing this.
Some of you might know that Carlos has been struggling with poor health for a long time. He’s been on dialysis for nearly 15 years (a record length of time), and there are other complications with his heart and other things that are getting worse. He called me a few days ago and asked if I could help with his Final Expenses. Pre existing conditions would not allow him to obtain any insurance, and his family can’t help. They’ve been struggling to keep up with all his other expenses.
I am asking for your help.
Let's all get together and help ease his mind and free him to deal with other matters.
I'm asking all Bowman and Placer alumni to contribute.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Please give from your heart. I would like to be able to reach this goal soon so that Carlos can know it’s taken care of and that old friends still care.
Thank you very much.
