Carlos Needs Your Help to Stay in School

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Carlos and I'm currently a full-time nursing student pursuing my dream. I've been in the healthcare field for over 20 years as I feel that it has always been my calling to help people. Unfortunately, I find myself "with the shoe on the other foot" as I am now the one needing and asking for help.

As a full-time student, I have to rely on my wife to carry the weight of the household financials. I can only work a few shifts a month as the school workload doesn't afford me free time to work more than that. As hard as it is for me to suck up my pride and start a GoFundMe to help with my tuition, it doesn't burden me to take that load off of my wife's shoulders. Sacrifices have been made by both my wife and me, but mostly by my wife.

She sacrifices her days off to work extra shifts, even pulling from what's left of her 401k to make sure we scrape by and I can focus on my studying as I go to school Mon thru Fri - doing, as she is fond of saying, "my job - going to school, getting good grades and graduating." But I also know that she is sacrificing what means the most to her - e.g., eating dinner at the table with her, sitting in the front room with her to watch a movie, or being able to spend time with family and friends. Even a simple movie night is a luxury we can't afford, but that's not as important to her as my time is.

The money donated isn't going to provide us financial freedom because that's not what I'm asking for. It's simply to stay afloat with the school and the financial aid department, so all I have to stress about is passing the next exam(s).

It's just disheartening that I got the news today from the school's financial aid department that I'm at risk for being dropped from the program if I don't put something towards my tuition. This was very unexpected as I had a payment plan worked out, but now it seems it's out of my control as I'm at their mercy. We just started our last term this week and we're 4 months out from graduation, and I would not want to be pulled from my cohort. A cohort where we all grew close and had one another's back through some pretty hard times and some good ones.

To stay as transparent as I can, I will answer all questions regarding my current situation verbally in person and with school documentation or anything that I can furnish as a nursing student. Because most of you reading this are nurses and know the sacrifices that have to be made to ascertain that goal. I know I set a goal but the goal is what's given and not requested. Anything and everything donated is immensely appreciated by both of us. Anyone who knows me knows I'm sincere and genuine and wouldn't do anything malice to not only lose your trust but to shame the name that my mom gave me. I appreciate you all immensely, even if you stopped in to read my story. I will make you all proud by being the nurse that you would want caring for yourself or any of your loved ones!

Have a blessed and safe holidays and may your visit from Santa find you and yours in good health!
