Stroke Medical Cost Fundraiser for Carlos Hunt
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Erin. I am fundraising on behalf of DeCarlos Hunt.
Although you all may know him by Carlos, Deco or Los, I have known him by his given name DeCarlos since we met in 1992.
I am the mother of his sons, Andrew and Domonic. We ask for you to donate to this fundraiser as DeCarlos recently suffered from a massive stroke caused by a AVM (Arteriovenous Malformation). Unbeknownst to all, this is a condition he’s had since birth that suddenly ruptured.
Being the responsible creature of habit he is, when DeCarlos didn’t call in or show up for work on July 12th, his employer and coworkers became worried. Several unanswered calls from his employer, friends, and family prompted calls for a welfare check to his apartment where he was found unconscious. Since he was still dressed in his BMX clothing from the prior evening, it is estimated he was lying there for around 20 hours.
It surely is DeCarlos’ dedication to riding and teaching BMX racing to young people that helped keep him in wonderful shape and assisted him in surviving such a horrific ordeal. It truly is a miracle.
DeCarlos subsequently underwent brain surgery at Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara and is on a ventilator. He is conscious and aware of his surroundings and can move most of the right side of his body. I was also able to elicit a bit of a smile when I asked about his intense craving for a Mt. Dew.
There is a long road to recovery for him that includes respiratory, physical, and occupational therapy.
DeCarlos is in much need of long-term emotional, spiritual, and financial support. However, our sons and I are committed to assist in his recovery.
Any and all donations will help with medical bills, specialized care and housing over the next year or so.
If you are unable to donate, please send your positive energy and prayers.
Thank you all for your support.
