ALS Strikes Carlos Guindon
Donation protected
Carlos Guindon, a long-time resident of Exeter, NH and Exeter Taverners Hall of Famer, and his wife Lidieth moved back to their native Costa Rica in 2021 after his retirement as a Professor at North Shore Community College, hoping to enjoy a long, comfortable retirement in the country they love.
Tragically, he has received a diagnosis of ALS (aka Lou Gehrig’s disease). He has lost his fine motor skills and his ability to speak clearly; he recently got a feeding tube.
They now have many unexpected expenses related to transportation, building modifications, medications, diet, etc.
Following in the footsteps of his father (one of the founders of the Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Preserve in Costa Rica), Carlos became an avid and dedicated environmentalist. Carlos served on the Exeter Conservation Commission, and personally worked in the field to slow invasive species.
Carlos’ skillful, stylish play was a joy to behold on the soccer pitch. He was fun to play with, and against.
We hope that those who appreciate Carlos’ environmental work and those who played soccer with and against him at Seacoast United Soccer Club in Hampton, NH or the New England OTHSL in which he was a long time member of the Wenham Generals, will join us in generously supporting him. He needs our help.
