My dear friend Judith's sweet, 4-year-old nephew Carlos Gael was taken to the emergency room  by his parents after they noticed a few concerning symptoms.  At the hospital, they received the worst news a parent could ever get: their baby boy has cancer. Carlos was diagnosed with Leukemia and is now receiving chemotherapy.  

Carlos and his family live in Paraguay, which, like most of South America, is in the midst of a huge surge of coronavirus cases. Although Carlos is getting exceptional care, the pandemic has made it difficult to access needed medical supplies, and it has fallen to his family to source supplies from other countries and import them to aid their son. It seems the road ahead will be a long and tough one for Carlos and his entire family. Costs are already beginning to pile up with medical bills, medication costs, and travel fees.

I first met Judith in Los Angeles, where she and I were both working at the same preschool. Her dedication to and love for children inspired me to hire her when I started my own nature school a short time later. This fundraiser is so important to me because she is a dear friend. I love her and her family so much, and want to help them in any way that I can.
