Hafa Adai & Aloha. We are devastated to announce that Carlos Camacho, devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and brother, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 2nd. Carlos considered Hawai’i his second home and was just beginning his vacation with his wife and grandchildren when he tragically passed away in his sleep.
Carlos will be remembered as a strong, loving, and compassionate family man. His presence filled the room with a gentle, yet powerful aura of Aloha. He loved coaching his granddaughter and umpiring youth baseball. He was the family chef whose joy was to serve up delicious eats…especially when tempting all with his super-secret BBQ sauce! Carlos was a Vietnam-era Navy veteran, an avid Warriors fan, and a die-hard Raiders fan.
Maria Camacho, his wife and best friend of 48 years, is now faced with the uncertainty and financial challenges as a widow; with the costs of returning him to California, and other funeral-related expenses. Your kind donations will be much appreciated and will go a long way in helping Maria during this difficult time. Mahalo.
** Updates **
Carlos' Celebration of Life (Date & Place) is still to be determined so stay tuned.
On Thursday, October 5, we held a picnic in Ko'olina to gather, mourn, and release flowers into the ocean to honor the memory of Carlos. This was a tradition we used to do with him (every time he'd visit), to pay tribute to those who have passed, and so we will continue it. While we released the flowers, we were able to witness the most beautiful, vibrant, sunset. And in that moment, we all felt his presence with us again. Aloha Oe Carlos, until we meet again.
