Fundraiser for Carlos and Nancy (Mosco) Torrez

Dear Family, friends, co-workers, and acquaintances, We the Mosco/Torrez families would like to share a story about a very special couple, our brother and sister Carlos and Nancy (Mosco) Torrez. These amazing individuals have been married for over 30 years.  The love they have for one another is inspiring and timeless. They are the couple most of us in a relationship strive to be. 

2022 has proven to be an extremely challenging year for both Carlos and Nancy. In April/May of this year Nancy was diagnosed with an irreversible and incurable kidney disease called IgA Nephropathy also known as Bergers disease. Nancy will live with this disease for the remainder of her life.  Currently there is not a cure.  She has been extremely ill and was on the cusp of needing dialysis and a kidney transplant.  This still remains a real possibility. At this time all the doctors can do is get her to “remission” and maintain that status with medication management. Nancy is working part-time.

Struggling with health issues takes its toll with one individual, then imagine, two people one household with life threatening diseases.  In May Carlos was diagnosed with cancer of the bladder. Cancer is greedy, it also has attacked the bladder muscle wall.  So far, he has undergone 2 TURBT (trans-urethral-removal-bladder-tumors) surgeries, His recovery through this first step took its toll, but then came a 9-week course of Chemotherapy. In the month ahead he will be undergoing yet another surgery, this one will be to completely remove his bladder and reconstruct a new one out of his intestines (neobladder reconstruction). Carlos has not been able to go back to work since his diagnosis and will most likely be out of work for another 6 months.

 Recovery is a long road …...these two beautiful souls realize how amazing and blessed they are and have been. This is a very humbling and life changing experience for Carlos and Nancy. They are always the first to jump in and help whenever anyone needs anything and now, they need some help.

 Our hope is to help alleviate some of their financial burdens, so they may both focus on healing and overcoming the medical challenges life has presented them.
