Our mother, Carline Pierre is a nurse at Cold Spring Hills, where she has worked for the past 13 years and a single mother of 3 daughters. She is currently undergoing extensive chemo and radiation treatments for cancer. This is not her first bout with the disease. 

In January 2015, she was first diagnosed with Malignant Neoplasm of the Left Lung. This came as a shock, as our mom has always been very health conscious and has never touched a cigarette in her life, especially given her asthma. She underwent surgery and had a Left Upper Lobe Resection followed by 6 cycles of chemotherapy. This left her very weak and destroyed her appetite. We watched as our mother shrunk before our eyes, riddled with pain from her treatment and stress due to piling bills.

 By God’s grace, she successfully went into remission after surgery and chemo. While insurance covered some of the medical bills, it was not enough. This was an incredibly stressful period of time and resulted in many overdue bills. In order to prevent the health benefits from being cut off, she returned to work 3 months earlier than doctors recommended.

Unfortunately, the cancer returned with a vengeance and has spread to her brain. In October 2019, our mom was diagnosed with Recurrent Small cell cancer of the left lung that metastasized to the lymph nodes and the brain. She underwent surgery, Left lung resection with lymphadenectomy in March 2020 followed by chemo and radiation to the brain. As she is currently immunocompromised, we are taking great care to isolate and practice social distancing during the ongoing pandemic. We’ve received tons of love and support from family and friends, which we appreciate immensely.

This time around, we are trying to raise money to take care of her expenses. The funds will go towards covering bills as medical expenses, transportation and utilities. Every cent helps. We appreciate any donations. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts and God bless you.
