Carlie Jo’s Journey

Hi! This Go Fund Me is here to help Doug & Talisha Johnson whose 18-year-old daughter, Carlie Jo, has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of acute leukemia. All funds will be used for their family as they travel to and from the hospital in Dallas for treatment. There are lots of unknowns at this point, but we do know that they need our help as well as our prayers.

Talisha’s words…

This is not the news any parent ever wants to share but we want to humbly ask for prayers…

“Carlie Jo is in the fight of her life”- exact words used by the hematological oncologist today. After random bruises showed up all over her body (especially her legs) last weekend she had blood work on Tuesday. Results came in this morning and we were sent to UT Southwestern in Dallas to confirm her diagnosis.

Carlie Jo told the doctor not to sugar coat it so I won’t either… Our sweet Carlie Jo has a very aggressive form of Acute Leukemia. We do not know the exact type at this time.

We were immediately surrounded by 3 doctors who sat with us and explained everything. The team here at UTSW is truly incredible! In just the 8 hours she has been here she has probably seen/been in contact with 20 doctors working collaboratively to help her.

They have already given her a dose of chemotherapy and so many other things that I can’t pronounce. She is currently in the ICU and tomorrow she will have a bone marrow biopsy.

She will be here at least a month, and while she is missing some Senior year milestones, she has been a trooper and we will celebrate her as soon as we can.

On the way here I was falling apart and she said, “God only sends his warriors into battle mom. I got this.” — what wisdom.

She is feisty, smart, stubborn and will beat this. While we are scared to death and stressed, Doug and I cling to the promise that God is bigger than this.
