Hi, my name is Carley Anderson.
I’m starting my first year in the Doctoral Program for Occupational Therapy at Huntington University, a school built on Christ, Service, and Scholarship. This spring, I have the opportunity to go on my first ever missionary trip to Guatemala, where I will use my OT training to help people gain mobility devices that can truly change their lives—giving them independence, hope, and a brighter future.
My journey with faith has been anything but straightforward. I grew up in a Jewish household, attending temple and celebrating the holidays. I have a deep love and respect for my Jewish heritage and the traditions I grew up with, but personally I struggled to feel spiritually connected. It wasn’t until college, after meeting my fiancé, Jake, and a wonderful mentor named Stacie, that I began exploring my faith in Jesus. At first, it was scary—I felt like I was betraying my family and stepping into something unknown. But over time, I’ve felt God’s presence guiding me, comforting me during difficult times, and teaching me to trust His plan. My journey has had many ups and downs, but I trust in the plan He has for me, and I am working towards following His guidance and listening to His voice.
This trip to Guatemala for me isn’t just about helping others, while that is a big part of it, but also about strengthening my faith. I hope to share God’s love with the people I meet, just as others have shared it with me. I want to encourage those who might feel unsure or timid about their faith that God is patient, loving, and has a plan for every one of us.
I’m asking for your support to make this trip possible. I have just graduated my undergrad with significant loans and am now starting grad school. Because of these circumstances I have been praying for the wisdom to make the right decision and for His guidance. Despite the circumstances and barriers that I face, I strongly feel His spirit moving me towards this work and to give back to the community. He has so generously blessed me over the past few year. Every donation, big or small, helps provide mobility aids to those in need and allows me to continue this journey of service and faith. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this campaign is just as powerful.
Thank you for being part of this journey. With your help, we can bring hope, independence, and God’s love to those who need it most in Guatemala.
