Carley's Battle with Classical Hodgkin Lymphoma

On May 5, 2022 Carley was diagnosed with stage 2 Classical Hodgkin Lymphoma.  Carley met with an Oncologist in Bozeman, MT  and was told the current treatment plan is 4-6 months of Chemotherapy. Carley recently had a bone marrow biopsy to check to see if the cancer is in her bone tissue, as this would increase the severity of her diagnosis and possibly extend treatment.  Chemotherapy has the potential to cause damage to her future fertility and because of this, she was recommended by her doctor to begin the egg preservation process as a precaution.  Egg preservation will ensure that Carley has the chance to start a family someday. Fertility preservation will be completed later this week and she will move toward her chemotherapy starting the first week of June.  Thankfully, Carley does have medical coverage for most of the treatment expenses. However, the fertility costs are considered an out-of-pocket expense.  Carley and her Oncologist have made the decision that it would be best for her to remain in Bozeman, where she can continue to focus on graduate school and her summer internship as much as she can.  With that being said, she will be away from her family and unable to maintain the  balance of pursuing her education, starting an internship, and working to support herself financially while she is being treated.  We hope to find a way to support Carley during this process and relieve some of the unforeseen costs that come along with it, such as fertility costs,  travel expenses, and various medications. We are in the very early stages of this journey and will provide continued updates as we receive them.
