I feel very passionately regarding mental health, I experienced the effects of my mum having psychotic episodes growing and she lived a live of depression. This had an effect on my self growing up and my mental health and self worth was very low. I thought is was all normal to feel the way I did. I only realised when I got to my mid 20s that it was my normal but I could let go of self blame and rebuild my self. I did this through having counselling and training to be a counsellor. The Kernos Centre wasn't available when I was younger , if it was I could have escaped my "stuck" mind self sooner.

This is why I'm running this year again for Kernos as the Kernos Centre provides professional counselling and support for people with emotional and psychological difficulties, ensuring those most in need receive appropriate, effective and ongoing help, regardless of their resources. The charity is such a life line for people who use the service .

Im undergoing my training now and it's intense , during the week I'm out running 5.30am -6.30am 3 times a week . At the weekend im increasing the distance with this weekend I'm at 14 miles. The marathon is 26.2 miles. Last year I ran my first marathon in Manchester, this training is time consuming and the event is mind blowing. I remember I cried and I wanted to give up but you some how keep pushing. I remembered why I was doing it, giving up for me is never an option. Im a survivor and I felt like an underachiever growing up but now I'm me and I can achieve as my self worth and self belief is where I want it to be.

The money raised will be used to allow sessions for individuals to have 1-1, it costs the Kernos Centre £40 per session with al over heads to be covered and they don't get support from the NHS. They do have funding from people but this only covers a certain percentage of what a session costs to run.

I am a counsellor for Kernos and I sees first hand the support it offers people. They are also fotunate to have a a great volunteer team that allow the costs to keep sustainable.

Please help me raise money to provide 1-1 counselling for a child or adult who needs this service.
