Carlee & Nick DeFrancesco

Donation protected
After battling and fighting Cancer, in the early morning of December 6, 2020, two young adults lost their only surviving parent JoAnn DeFrancesco to the same disease that claimed so many this tragic year – COVID-19.

Carlee and Nick, both age 21, lost their father five years ago due to complications from diabetes. Their mom was left a grieving widow to carry the family. Shortly after their mother was diagnosed with Cancer and these two kids were then left helping their mother to fight her battle. Their mother was a strong role model – for over 15 years she worked as a Clinical Adjunct Instructor at Bergen Community College teaching Radiography and she worked as a Radiographer as well.  Most recently, for a month, she was happy to be helping and working at Esplanade.  JoAnn was a dedicated Widow and Single Mom working hard to maintain her home and raise her two children. Cancer wouldn’t slow her down. But 2020 was a hard year for many and on November 6th Joanne began to show symptoms after one of the patients at Esplanade tested positive on November 3rd.  About a week later JoAnn tested positive for COVID-19 herself.  JoAnn ultimately ended up with bilateral pneumonia but being the strong fighter she was she seemed to be on the mend. However, out of nowhere, she took a turn for the worse and ultimately went into cardic arrest and ultimately passed on December 6, 2020.

Carlee and Nick are hometown kids, they are graduates of Tappan Zee High School, your neighbors and maybe even your children’s friends. Both my wife and I know them personally – they are our neighbors, Carlee is our babysitter, Nick you will see when you pick up your favorite fast food meal. Carlee is a volunteer with the Sparkill Fire Dept, a recent college graduate from St. Thomas Acquinas College who has plans to apply to Medical School. She is a great kid who is one of the few people we trust with our children! Nick has plans to go to St. Thomas Acquinas College in the Fall to major in Psychology and become a Teacher. Both now have a bit of an uncertain path of whether they will be able to remain together and where their paths will lead. Keisha and I want to help them in any way we can.  If you know them or don’t, we and I know they would be grateful if you can help them in any small or big way while they navigate through these next few days, weeks, months, years….life.

Please donate to Carlee and Nick or feel free to Venmo Carlee directly at @Carlee-DeFrancesco. I am also collecting Shoprite cards/Gift cards so they have ample ability to have groceries without stress or worry for the foreseeable future. Feel free to reach out to them to drop off directly if you know them or I will gladly collect and pass it on.

Thank you,

Sharon and Keisha Foley
