Our mother, Carla Juntti, recently found out that she has a rare genetic mutation called CDH1 which causes diffuse gastric cancer and lobular breast cancer. She had breast cancer many years ago and had a double mastectomy. On 1/18/23 she had surgery for a total gastrectomy (complete stomach removal) at Mayo Clinic in Rochester as a preventative surgery. Once they removed her stomach they found cancer. We are still waiting for results to see what stage the cancer is. The surgery lasted a lot longer than expected because of scar tissue from previous surgeries. They had originally planned on her staying 1-2 nights at the hospital but she has been struggling with pain management and completing her goals. At this time we won't know when she will be able to leave the hospital. She has been needing a bit more care than normal because of other medical reasons. Hospital staff have requested that I stay with her during the night despite covid restrictions because they are short staffed and she needs the extra help.

The funds will be used for the new strict diet, medical devices, appointments, travel and stay. Any tiny bit helps and is appreciated.
