Carla Jo and her dog Bear
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Diana. On December 5th at 8:30 am, our neighbor Carla Jo was walking her brown lab Bear on the south side gas line trail right behind our neighborhood in East Anchorage. There is a large community of dog walkers on that trail system, and we all know one another. On that morning, right by the free little library, Carla Jo and Bear encountered a lose, lone dog that viscously attacked them. She tried to fight it off but the dog kept coming at them. Not until another dog walker appeared and heroically intervened were they able to get away.
Carla and Bear both suffered multiple bites; Carla nearly lost a finger and had to have surgery. She will need another one surgery and lots of PT to regain some functioning in her hand.
Unfortunately, the dog or it's owner have not been located; it was a pit bull, brown with white chest.
Carla is self employed and does not have any income when she cannot work. The medical bills have been extensive and they keep coming. There is no system to compensate or assist with these expenses.
This hits so close to home because it can happen to any of us!
Can you help? Every little bit is a sign of support and brings healing. Thank you all!
