My brother in law, Carl Gurera, was tragically diagnosed with a brain tumor last  year.   He is a loving husband to my sister, Nicole and a dedicated father to their 4 year old son, Paul and twin 2 year old daughters, Maggie & Elizabeth.  Shocking as this was, he has remained strong, positive and the rock to my sister, nieces and nephew.  They've been closely monitoring the tumor over the last year but lately he's been experiencing blurred vision, numbness in his arms legs, and severe headaches.  These alarming symptoms resulted in an ER visit on Nov. 11th.  Three days later an MRI confirmed the tumor has grown considerably and is close to a main artery in his brain.  He's now scheduled for surgery on Nov. 26th at KU Med Center to attempt to remove the tumor.

As brave and strong as Carl is, the surgery is dangerous and the recovery can take several months to a year.  During this time, my sister will be by his side caring for him as well as their 3 young children, all while attending school.

Carl is always helping others and putting everyone's needs above his own, I want nothing more than to reciprocate this kindness.

I hope this go fund me will help raise enough money to help them out while Carl is recuperating.  Any money collected will go towards medical bills, child care expenses and providing as normal of a Christmas as possible for the kids while Carl focuses on healing with the help of family.  Carl will have a long road to recovery and my hope is this go fund me will help reduce the stress of their financial obligations during this time.
