Carissa Needs Your Help After Accident

Hello, I’m speaking on behalf of my dear friend Carissa Conklin. On Sunday morning (6/1) Carissa was involved in a car accident that absolutely destroyed her car. The man that struck her with his van was fleeing the scene of another accident, where he had hit and killed a 77 year old woman out for a walk. My heart breaks for the friends and families whose lives are forever changed by her senseless death.

Directly after being hit by the man’s van, Carissa crawled out of her crushed car to actually check on him and make sure he was alright. The man again fled, where he was then, thankfully, apprehended. As I’m writing this, Carissa miraculously has not shown signs of serious bodily harm.

Where does the GoFundMe come into play? Some weeks back, Carissa’s landlords here in Astoria put her apartment on the market. Carissa is set to move from Astoria to Portland at the end of this month. On top of everything, Carissa needs to be able to, at a moment’s notice, drive to Heppner, OR to be with a terminally ill family member. All of which involves her ability to drive. With all of the insanity surrounding this horrendous tragedy, it is unlikely there will be any insurance payouts in time for Carissa to move forward on schedule. I am asking for $2,000 to help offset the cost of car rentals and anything that may be helpful towards her imminent move.
