Caring for the Nasir Family

Shabrina Nasir is one of our beloved nurses that works on the Cardiac Service Line as a Charge Nurse on 3 and 4 North. On the job she is the true definition of what a nurse should be: putting the patients first and supporting her staff. Off the clock she is a wife and mother of three children ages 11, 8 and 4 years old. This Summer Shabrina had bravely decided to advance her nursing career by applying and accepting a position with NCH's Critical Care Fellowship. 

Unfortunately, just one month after accepting the position, Shabrina's husband suffered a heart attack that left him admitted into the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit. After much effort it was decided that he be airlifted to Orlando Hospital to receive the specialized care he needed. Of course at this time Shabrina left work to be by his side and her children at home with their grandparents. 

After arriving in Orlando Hospital, medical staff determined that his prognosis was poor and nothing more could be done. Nasir “Johnny” Uddin passed away on April 7th, 2019.

We are sending prayers and love towards Shabrina and her family during this immensely difficult time. Shabrina described her husband as "the one who kept the house running" as he fed the children and took them to and from school and after school activities.
