Caring for Olga - a Family's Struggles with Dementia
Donation protected
Our family is reaching out with heavy hearts and hopeful spirits to ask for your support in helping care for our mother, Olga Diaz, who is living with dementia. She is 81 years old and has always been the heart of our home - a woman full of kindness, strength, and love.
Over the past year, her condition has progressed. While she is still verbal, much of her world now lives in the past. She often speaks to loved ones who are no longer with us and interacts with memories as if they are happening in real time. It’s both heartbreaking and beautiful — a reflection of the deep, enduring love she’s carried throughout her life.
My father, who is now 88, has been doing everything he can to care for her, but it’s become more than he can handle alone. He’s physically and emotionally exhausted, and we’ve reached a point where they need real support.
We’ve explored every option — from in-home care to memory care facilities — but the costs are staggering. Even the most basic level of professional care is far beyond their financial means. We are doing everything we can as a family, but we can’t do it alone.
That’s why we’ve created this GoFundMe. Our goal is to raise funds to help cover the cost of memory care or quality home health support — so our mom can live with dignity and safety, and so our dad doesn’t have to carry this burden alone.
Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward ensuring our mom gets the care she needs and deserves. If you aren’t able to give, we completely understand — please consider sharing this with others who might be able to help.
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for being part of this journey with us. Your support means more than words can express.
With love and gratitude,
Dave, Steve, and Matt Diaz
