Caring for Kristie
Donation protected
For those of you who know me (Sarah Smith), you know that as a missionary I am often asking for your help for the underprivileged children that I serve in Guatemala. It has been my honor to partner along with hundreds of sponsors to bring help and hope to the villages of San Josè Pinula.
However, today I am asking for your help again, but this time it is to bring help and hope to one of our own.
Kristie Finchum, a lifetime resident of Hanover County, and my best friend since pre-teen days, may or may not be known to you. For those of you who send finances to CrossCulture Jesus you will know her as the silent staff member who collects and organizes all the ministry’s donations and correspondence with faithfulness and integrity. Kristie has walked alongside me during this mission-adventure for the past 20 years all from her home in Hanover County keeping things running on the home front by fully administrating our State side office. She has done so silently, asking for no recognition, all while holding down a full-time job and raising three wonderful children.
Our dear Kristie has recently been diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer. The shocking news that the tumor is too large to operate at this moment has left the family reeling.
Besides the emotional burden that cancer causes, the Finchum family is also suffering from financial burden. The chemotherapy and other medical treatments are not totally covered by insurance leaving the family with deductibles and co-pays that are overwhelming.
Kristie is not only the mother of three beautiful children but also the wife of a Henrico County Police Officer. Daily her family sacrifices to help so many- not only in Guatemala but also locally. She is one of our own and she needs our help.
Be a part of her miracle by donating today. Anything you can give towards her medical bills would be greatly appreciated. If we all pitch in with whatever we can- whether it be $5 or $500 – all of us together can make a huge difference for this family at this difficult time.
And please don’t forget to pray. I sincerely believe that with God, all things are possible (Matt. 19:26).
We are community. We help one another.
Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. (Galatians 6:2)
