Original story:
Reed Carle was born in 1992 to Carrie and Doug Carle. A graduate of Anderson High School, Kevin attended Anderson University to pursue degree in Broadcast Journalism. Kevin was very active with his church, attending youth conferences with the Pastor there, who describes Kevin as ‘having a heart of gold’.
In early February 2017, Kevin excitedly accepted an opportunity to gain experience in a new professional field. En route to his second day at his new position, Kevin was involved in a horrific car accident. Unfortunately, Kevin's injuries have paralyzed him from the neck down. While the family hope and pray for a miracle, CT scans have confirmed that Kevin's injuries will leave him in a quadriplegic state for the remainder of his life. Today, February 21, 2017, he will receive a tracheotomy in hopes that he will be able to breath with the assistance of a respirator.
Kevin's family has remained at his side in the days following the accident. Given the nature of his injuries, an extensive rediscovery of life's journey is on the horizon. While Kevin's body will never fully return to its previous abilities, we are faithful that his heart and mind certainly can! While he is unlikely to regain his ability to verbalize, he will have certainly have the ability to communicate through facial expressions, smiles, and head nods.
Carrie, Doug, and Kevin's siblings strive to assist and support him in any way possible. A great burden of expense will be incurred over the course of this journey. It is our hope that you may find it in your heart to graciously support Kevin and his family to assist with these expenses. They include hotel costs; travel expenses; food; as well as; the medical expenses that fall outside of insurance coverage. Kevin will require constant and ongoing medical care including advanced medical equipment that may allow him to communicate and achieve a level of autonomy.
In Kevin's time of need, the support of family and community cannot be understated. The family asks that you pray for a miracle. We hope that you are able to find it in your heart to assist Kevin and his family through their difficult journey.
An excerpt from Kevin’s Facebook page shares the following:
Hebrews 11:2
The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It’s our handle on what we cannot see. The act of faith is what distinguished our ancestors, set them above the crowd.
