My beloved 12 year old niece Katie Linscomb is in the Pediatric ICU at UCSF in a medically induced coma.  She collapsed on a hike Monday 10/19 for reasons not yet understood, suffered an extreme fever, brain swelling and catastrophic liver damage.  We do not yet know if brain injury has occurred, and are hopeful for healing and recovery for her brain and liver.  My sister Mary and her husband Dave have received many offers of support which are deeply appreciated.  

Their practical needs right now are related to the many unexpected expenses and Mary's lost income.  These funds will be used to pay for transportation, parking, meals and lost wages as Mary and David give their full attention to Katie's healing.
