Caring for KateLyn

A family so precious, a girl so beautiful and so brave. This hits so close to home for so many reason but mainly because the testimony our girls will share, the empathy that MY ENTIRE FAMILY feels for their entire family, and the blessing that they have been to my life for the past 27+ years!!!

& please know this is my heart being venerable and my outside view to someone very dear to my family! Be kind, be supportive, share, be generous, & most of all thank Jesus for your loved ones

Ughh!!! Earlier this year in March 2025, I got a few text messages from Sarah. They were short but direct, Her oldest daughter KateLyn started having migraines, blurred vision, balance, etc. they were at er waiting…. And waiting….

After HOURS of waiting there in the ER… with a momma who didn’t stop until she was seen, & a series of tests They were told that KateLyn had a mass on her brain and transferred her to the Houston Medical Center where she stayed until craniotomy #1 was completed and she was well enough to go home!! They completed a total recession. GOD IS GOOD! She began her recovery. Strong in their faith, KateLyn and her family waited for the pathology reports.

Weeks passed, no clear answered given, things were not adding up, but a referral to oncology showed up on KateLyns my chart.

Yall!!! When Sarah shared this, Immediately my heart sank as I saw, not just any woman.. but THIS woman. A woman who helped my mom raise me, who was helping me raise my girls, feeling everything I didn’t think I was going to live through. What a full circle God created, she is one of the people who helped pull me through this on some of my absolute darkest days.

But her story doesn’t stop there. After KateLyns 7 weeks of recovery, symptoms started showing, she had headaches, balance issues and vision changes… and not Until this past weekend. A terrible seizure sent them back to the Med Center by ambulance.

Unfortunately KateLyn has a been diagnosed with brain cancer, they were told Saturday that her tumor had returned. 7 weeks yall, this kind, GOOD, God fearing beautiful hearted human was about to do it again. She was not even given a chance to finish her recovery and get options for further treatment before her cancerous tumor returned!!!!

After meeting with surgeon again, this morning (5-12-2025) Katelyn came out of an 8 hours brain surgery and is currently in ICU with her momma and daddy by her side. And her siblings holding down the house.

This strong ,beautiful, young woman had her second craniotomy. They do believe they got it all but the response was just as confident as the first surgery.

NOW YALL WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!

One way Audrey and I can help is the way that has been the biggest blessing to us and that’s financially, and memories!

THIS REQUEST IS FROM AUDREY

Audrey being a kid, her main concerns are their family making memories. We were so blessed with a make a wish trip to Hawaii and then were able to take our kids and nieces to Disney and universal. I can’t tell you the difference it makes for us when we are away. Life feels free and healthy. She wants Katelyn and her family to be able to experience that if they choose and how they choose!!!!

And MY REQUEST

& now the ugly reality, the PARTS that truly sucks!

1. KateLyn Being a young adult, graduating college, moving away from home and being involved in an internship through CFBC, I’m sure you can imagine insurance wasn’t the first thing a young adult getting their start in the real world had on her mind. REALITY IS YOU ARE NOT TREATED THE SAME WITHOUT INSURANCE…So enough said there. We need a financial blessing for Medical Help!!!!! ASAP!

2. BILLSS DONT STOP!!! parking isn’t cheap, food away while at hospital isn’t cheap, gas isn’t cheap, hotels close to your baby when you just need a quick shower, and a bed for a few hours! The financial burden that comes with the reality they have is unbearable.
