Caring For Kaiser

On January 13, my adventurous and fun loving nephew Kaiser, suffered a serious head injury while horseback riding in Grand Forks. He was immediately airlifted to Sanford Children's Hospital in Fargo and underwent emergency brain surgery that night. He was in a coma for a little over two weeks and is now working hard to come out of the “fog” state but is showing signs of improvement (opening eyes, tracking, and looking for voices). He recently started following a few commands.

A few days ago, he had an infection in his abdomen and had to be treated for septic shock.  He is recovering well from the latest procedure to treat the infection, but remains in the PICU. 

Even though he has started to regain control of some movement throughout his body, he still has a long and unpredictable road ahead of him. His parents, Logan and Melinda, have relocated their family to Fargo so that they can be by his side continuously.  Once Kaiser is well enough, they will more than likely be relocating again to another city so that he can undergo an intense rehabilitation plan.

Logan and Melinda have been helpers in their community for nearly two decades. Logan is a Captain with the GFFD.  Melinda was a nurse in the Grand Forks area for over ten years before becoming a travel nurse, having done an assignment in NYC during the peak of COVID. As a family they have fostered many animals through the TMAR animal rescue. 

I set this fundraiser up in hopes we can rally around them and let them focus on caring for Kaiser during this time.  Any money raised will be immediately used to help offset the relocation costs, medical bills, living expenses, etc. They are the sole beneficiaries of this campaign and all proceeds will go directly to them.
