Kaine is a big fan of playing with his cousin, running with Olivia his sister dog, and loving his cat Peep. He also loves trucks and cars, Legos, and visiting the science museum. Being joyful and sharing his beautiful smile comes naturally to KK. But on Christmas day things began to change.
Overnight it seemed that Kaine was losing his energy. His mom and GG took him to the urgent care and were told that he probably had some sort of virus brewing. There would be no energy for a Christmas celebration. On the following Sunday, Kaine ended up in the ER unable to stand or walk and all the color was gone from his otherwise rosy cheeks. The doctors ran some tests, and by New Year’s Eve we received the devastating diagnosis of Leukemia! Acute B-lymphoblastic leukemia came out of nowhere, and now our once superhero-strong little man could not even get out of bed.
Thankfully, due to great care from the doctors and nurses in the hospital and lots of positive thoughts and prayers, Kaine has been able to tolerate his Chemotherapy treatments and we are hoping for good news after Phase 1 is complete at the end of January. The medical bills have already started flowing in and mom and dad are struggling to pay for the overwhelming expenses of having a very sick child. I am hoping that through the sharing of this message and generosity of family, friends, and caring people across this country that Kaine and his family will be able to stay at this wonderful hospital and continue with the excellent care that he is receiving for as long as he possibly can.
No one ever suspects that their lives will one day be flipped upside-down by such a terrible childhood disease as Leukemia but I am certain that with everyone’s support and positive energy Kaine will be able to spread his joy throughout the world for many years to come! Please join Team KK as we fight for the heart of our family, Kaine. Thank you in advance for your thoughts, prayers, and support!
