Caring for Joanna Through Family & Friends
Donación protegida
Hello All,
I've been lucky to call Desiree Bruno one of my closest friend's for more than 20 years. Recently, her mother, Joanna, has been diagnosed with Alzheimers. Joanna is currently living in California with her daughter Lynn who is disabled, and her grandson Leo. Lynn and Leo are not equipped to take constant care of Joanna as time progresses.
Joanna has lived a full and challenging life. Losing her mom at 15, joining the Army at 18, and a single mother of 3 for most of her life. She dedicated herself to care for her children, often putting her own needs on the back burner. The challenges she has seen and gone through would break most people. She deserves a peaceful ending, and we want to see that happen.
We want to make her remaining years as comfortable as feasibly possible.
Desiree needs to move back to California from Minnesota, to care for her mother and sister.
Moving across the country to help her mother and sister is an almost insurmountable challenge, but it's the best thing for her family. Desiree has had her own challenges this year, becoming unemployed and contracting COVID after losing her job. Her struggle to get her life back on track in Minnesota has been sidelined by this devastating diagnosis. Unemployment lead to missed car payments, and Desiree is in danger of losing her vehicle, and at a loss as to how to fund the move. Meanwhile, the situation in California degrades, and her mother is not getting the care or support she needs with her condition. Time is of the essence, and ensuring Desiree has a reliable vehicle for the move, and to transport Joanna to doctor's appointments is a necessity.
The money donated will be used to catch Desiree up on her car payments, cover the moving costs to California, and to move Joanna to a more suitable, safer home in Southern California. Any additional funds will be used to help Joanna improve safety of her new home, and any additional medical needs that have not been covered by the programs she is currently in.
Any help is greatly appreciated. We know everyone is facing challenges from the past year, both mentally and financially.
