James McDonald is a fixture in Swanton. He lives on Grand Avenue and has worked for and with various places around town; most recently for Hudak farms and Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. He loves to work with plants and animals and is a caring, generous, and kind person. At Holy Trinity he would unlock and lock the building as needed, tend the flowers at the front of the church and assist with decorating for various holidays. He was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 esophageal cancer and does not have long to live. The immediate plan is to move James to palliative care and hospice. Hopefully this can happen either at home or in a care facility that is not the hospital.

Financially this is a struggle for James and his family. The medical bills associated with diagnosis and treatment are extensive as well as the cost for hospice. Any assistance that can be provided would be greatly appreciated.
