Caring for Jake and Andreya

Donation protected
Toward the end of last week Andreya exhibited signs of psychosis. They worsened on Friday, and Jake had to call 911 for an ambulance because of a possible seizure.  Andreya was admitted to Spectrum Butterworth for testing. They did test for encephalitis, but that test will take three weeks to return. The DRs did say this would not be a short term event.

When we started the campaign, we had no idea what was causing the disorientation and hallucinations. As of October 2, the drs believe this was a short psychotic episode brought o by stress, anxiety and sleep deprivation.  There do continue to be some physical side effects from medication, testing and some physical issues she was already getting treatment for. The plan is for her to be discharged in October 3rd and then on the 4th enter a program where she will get treatment during the day while Jake is at work.

Andreya just recently changed jobs and therefore has intermediate insurance. An event like this means significant medical bills from a hospital stay and major testing, loss of income for Jake and Andreya, and significant emotional strain. They have only been married three years and have only been in their house for a year.   This is a hard thing to go through so early in their marriage and without insurance and protections for Andreya from FMLA, they are looking at a long hard road in addition to the medical costs themselves.

We’ve updated the campaign to reflect what we now know about the costs.  In terms of medical costs for her hospital stay, testing and the treatment plan  we are anticipating reaching The max out of pocket of $10,000.  We are also anticipating 8 weeks of lost income for Andreya as she goes through treatment, gets well and the looks for a new position. There has also been a ton of time for Jake spent driving back and forth and we anticipate that will continue.  All funds raised will first go to medical bills and paying the out of pocket costs. Funds above that will go to helping with bills and covering Andreya’s lost income.

other ways you can help:
Please pray for Andreya: that the treatment plan works and she reaches her goal of being healthy again
Pray for Jacob that he will have the emotional strength to deal with this and that he'll have wisdom to make medical decisions.
Pray for both of their families that we'll support them well and help them make the best decisions.

You can also take them a meal. The link to sign up to bring them a meal is:  https://www.TakeThemAMeal.com/RDZC2927

We will continue to update the care page on Spectrum’s carecircles page.
