Caring for Immigrants in Minneapolis and St. Paul

ICE raids in Minneapolis and St. Paul have struck terror and fear into immigrant communities in our neighborhood. The City Conference of the Saint Paul Area Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (approximately 14 congregations) realizes that for these communities, getting food, daily essentials, medicine, and other necessities is a risk many are not willing to take.

To that end, we are raising funds to distribute to various non-profits in our community that are seeing to these needs, including Lutheran churches in St. Paul providing food and assistance, Foodshelves delivering supplies to families too frightened to leave their homes, and other nonprofits who are caring for immigrants in these days.

Do you need to be religious to help with this? No. We realize that there are many in our community who are looking for a way to do good in these troubled days who are not necessarily connected to a faith community. This is a concrete, effective way that you can help, and we consider it a part of our call as the church to facilitate that so that those in need can be supported, cared for, and live freely a diverse and multi-ethnic Minnesota.
