Caring for Edie (Auntie, sister, friend)

Update! We have hit our 1st goal. I am going to continue this fundraiser to help out with some of the medical bills that insurance won't cover. Thank you to everyone that has donated so far, you all are amazing and generous!

Hi, it's Robyn, Edie's sister and I am fundraising to help my sister with hospital after care. Recently my sister, Edie, was diagnosed with stage 5 renal failure. This means she is on dialysis until she gets a kidney transplant. She has been going through this as a single person far from us. She has some angels as friends who have been helping her. This has been physically and mentally debilitating. She had to medically retire from teaching. We were in the process of moving her here to MA from CA. A week and a half from the move she fell and broke her pelvis. She was hospitalized. Come to find out her insurance ended on July 31. I was able to get Cobra set up for her last week after spending 13 days in the hospital because we couldn't get her in a rehab due to lack of insurance. She is safely ensconced at her friend's house for now. She has an appointment for ssdi next week and hopefully we get Medicare and mediCal going. In the mean time she needs some in home care while her friend is at work. We are looking at Care.com for this coverage. It will be out of pocket so this is where gofundme comes in to action.
