A near fatal motorcycle accident has left our strong patriot, Don in critical condition. It was probably his quick thinking and years of motorcycle riding experience that initially saved his life. Since then it has been God, and the amazing doctors and nurses at the University of Louisville hospital that have kept him with us. He has been in the ICU in critical condition for over a week.
Don's wife Carol saw the accident from the seat of her motorcycle. Being a nurse she knew to insist that the emergency responders call for the Statflight helicopter and get him back to Louisville ASAP.
Don's family have camped out in the waiting room, in his ICU room, and in the car at the hospital so they can be near Don and support Carol as she watches over his care.
Luckily he does not have any head injuries, spinal injuries, or broken legs. He does have 12 broken ribs, both lungs punctured, swollen internal organs and a tube down his throat to help him breath. He has had 3 surgeries, several other procedures and we are anxiously waiting for our patriot to wake up.
Friends and family have been asking what they can do to help. They have brought food to the hospital and clean clothes so the family doesn't have to leave his side, but they wanted to do more for Don and Carol. So we have created this page to begin raising money for his medical expenses.
Don and Carol only have minimal insurance. They will never be able to cover all the bills. No one could pay the hundreds of thousands of dollars the bills will amount to. People want to help, family, friends, people who are motorcycle riders themselves.
Don has so much to live for, 2 daughters, 5 grandbabies and 1 brand new great grandbaby, and a wonderful wife who will be celebrating their 3rd wedding anniversary in the hospital by his bedside. Don waking up would be the best anniversary present.
