Caring for Celeste

This December our cherished friend and inspired teacher, Celeste Mallett-Jason, was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer. What initially appeared to be back pain from her work at home on the farm turned out to be cancer cells that had metastasized to her rib cage and lungs.
We share the news here to relieve Celeste from having to provide the information herself and to allow her to move forward gracefully, being held by us all. Our goal now is to give back the love and comfort that she provides us on the yoga mat and in the community. In true Celeste form, her ongoing yoga practice takes priority and she hopes to continue teaching her classes for as long as possible.
The chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments she has chosen to follow will limit Celeste's availability to manage her beautiful, new yoga space in Ganges as well as Dan's and her farm at home up the mountain. Celeste’s shocking news falls during a pandemic that has rocked her studio’s ability to thrive. She will have additional expenses for travel to the Victoria Cancer clinic and to the Inspire Health Centre, as well as weekly treatments from her team here on Salt Spring, additional medications, health supplements and adaptive therapies. Operating the farm is already considerable work for Celeste and Dan. On top of all of this they have just been told they need a new roof for their house.
Celeste has invested in many of us so lovingly and selflessly over the years.
She now needs our help.
