Caring for Cayce
Donation protected
I am writing this letter, not only to help the love of my life, but also to try and help someone who has spent her life helping others. Cayce Carol Curry needs your help too.
In early June, on Cayce’s 48th birthday, she was diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the rectum. Her prognosis is encouraging, but it will be a long road ahead.
This diagnosis impacts Cayce in the most obvious emotional and devastatingly painful ways, all compounded by the financial issues she is facing currently due to this condition.
● Cayce is unable to sit for any period of time due to the tumor’s location.
● She is currently unemployable due to the constant pain and pain medication.
● Her current insurance plan does not cover the care she needs, and the bills are mounting. Her treatment will continue to be costly.
○ Cayce was attending school full time to become a Nurse Practitioner and had the basic student insurance plan.
○ This plan does not pay for the multiple scans, tests, medicine, and treatments she has encountered thus far just this week, nor did it pay for the pain medicine that she constantly needs.
● Without better insurance coverage, these treatments would put her at risk of losing all of her savings. Therefore, she has applied for special admission to The Affordable Care Act and should have better coverage starting in July.
For those who don’t know Cayce, well, let me tell you a little about this generous woman.
● Cayce graduated from Georgia College with her Bachelors of Science in Nursing in 1994 and has been helping others ever since.
● She has worked in all fields of nursing but seemed drawn to geriatrics.
● Cayce has dedicated her life to helping those in times of crisis. That included quitting her job to care for her mother until her death 5 years ago.
● She has a glow that warms a room, and when Cayce loves you, she loves you with everything she has. You just feel her love when you are standing beside her.
She is usually energetic and glowing. I’ve known that since the first time I saw her, so lastly, I’d like to share a little bit about our love story. Cayce Carol Curry and I both grew up in Forsyth, Georgia. I will never forget the first time I saw her at Castleberry Drug store after school. She had white blonde hair and bright red lips, and I thought to myself, “there goes my girl”. It took about thirty years of life’s twists and turns, but now she really is my girl. And as of last week, she is my wife. Our wedding was not like she wanted it to be due to her pain levels and medical situations but no makeup or dress or jewelry could have made her more beautiful in my eyes. Although she is worried about hair loss, aging from the chemo and radiation, or maybe having a colostomy bag, God’s beauty in Cayce is so much more on the inside. If you know her, you know exactly what I mean.
Please join me in helping Cayce to regain her energy and health, allowing her to focus on her healing instead of the medical costs. Thank you if you can donate to her fund.
Sincerely,
Ray Pritchett, Cayce’s husband
