Hello! This is something I never thought I would have to do. I guess I just figured it wouldn't hit this close to home. My sister, Becky Watson, will be undergoing a kidney removal on November 6th. A 5 cm mass was discovered as an incidental finding after a CT scan on October 2nd at the ER. As per the specialist, the risk that this mass is cancerous is extremely high. This is my baby sister. I named her. She was my baby. We are 10 years apart and I remember the Christmas morning before she was born, my parents told me that they were having a baby. It was the best gift I had ever received. I remember thinking (even at 10 years old), that there isn't any present under the tree that is going to be anywhere near as good as getting a baby! On the day she was born, my dad called and told my brother and I it was a girl. I screamed with pure joy! My brother cried. I got my way. I got a sister! Now that we are grown, she is still my little sister and definitely the baby. We have raised our kids together. She is my kids' mom and I am her kids' mom. We aren't just "aunts" to our kids. We live as neighbors and I am thankful that I get to be as close as I am with her. On with the story...
Becky has 5 kids. Her boys, Parker, Zarren and Hunter are 17, 16 and 14 and her two daughters, Gracelyn and Irelyn are 9 and 7. She is only 36. The specialist told her that it was nothing she did, that it was "just bad luck." Becky will be out of work for at least 6 weeks just for the surgery and her husband will miss work periodically to help care for her. If it is cancerous, I honestly don't know how long she will be out of work. We are praying that she will be one of the small percentage of people whose mass does not come back as malignant. We are praying that after they remove the kidney, that the nightmare will be over. Regardless, she has already incurred medical bills and will incur an enormous hospital bill, even with insurance. This combined with a loss of wages for her and her husband, Grady, has the ability to cripple them financially. As a family we are supporting each other as much as possible.
Becky and Grady are very humble people and are uneasy about asking for help. With this said, I have seen both Grady and Becky support others with NO expectations of anything in return. They simply say, "Pay it Forward." I am now asking my friends and family to please help my baby sister and her family. If you cannot donate, I more than understand, but please pray and pray hard. Consider sharing this. I would be more than grateful! All my love to you all! I sincerely thank you!
