2020 was a different year for everyone but for the Herrera family
it was life changing in the worst way possible.
After dealing with fatigue, loss of appetite, digestive issues. Cari(48) went in and found out the worst news of her life on
November 18, 2020. Cari has
Stage 4 colorectal cancer. Inoperable
and incurable. It has spread to her liver,
lungs and thyroid.
The doctors have said she has to do chemo every other week for
the rest of her life.
Ernie and Cari have been together for 17
years. They love and laugh hard together.
Together they have Tayler(13) and
Ryleigh(12).

They have lived in Herriman since 2013, relocating from
Wyoming. As a family they love going camping and hiking,
traveling and BMX racing. Also, going to the movies. Since Cari’s
diagnosis they had to change some of those things. They take
brief walks around the block and do some family yoga. They “camp out” in the living room and watch movies. They have had to make
changes because often Cari is not feeling well and she does not
have the energy she used to.
Cari works in the Severe Special Ed department at Providence
Junior High and loves it. Her income contributes to their
household expenses. She has to reduce hours.
She is down to two days a week as she is too sick and exhausted to work anymore. She pushes those two days so she can be at the
school where her kids are currently attending.
These funds will help cover all expenses as her chemo bill ranges
from $500-1200 every other week. For the rest of her life.
Besides raising funds to cover health expenses we want to give theHerrera Family the gift of financial peace. Let’s give them this so
they can try to enjoy their precious time they have left together.
$5 adds up, share and share more.
*if you know of someone wanting to donate Skymiles, please reach out as we are trying to send The Herrera family to Hawaii while
Cari is feeling up to it.
