Caretha Ford and Family

Update : It is with a heavy heart that I write this update. Tragically Jamal Bernard Ford, a beloved husband and father, transitioned far to soon to the spirit world on 4/5/2024. This loss has left a profound void in the lives of his family, and now brings on a new level of financial responsibility on Caretha. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the continued support and love you are showing this family during this tough time!

I am Latricia Wilder, Caretha Ford’s Sista-Friend. I have created this page on behalf of The Ford Family and, more succinctly, my dear friend Caretha. As some of you may know, Jamal, her husband and the father of her children was seriously hurt in a horrible motorcycle accident on Wednesday, March 13, 2024. His leg was mangled so severely that they had to operate and amputate it. He has since undergone multiple surgeries and procedures to assist with the traumatic brain injury he experienced as a result of the accident.

Jamal is adventurous and loves cracking jokes and having a good time. He loves his family, and lives life to the fullest, and right now, he's currently in the ICU battling for his life. Caretha, family, and friends are rotating shifts at the hospital, ensuring Jamal is never alone and receiving quality care around the clock, which puts a financial strain on the family.

I'm asking my family, friends, and community to assist during this time to help cover emergencies and their day-to-day expenses. Caretha is a full-time student with a part-time job and cannot work while balancing advocating for Jamal and his medical needs and remaining being present and strong for their children: Amari, who recently graduated from college and is entering grad school; Anaya, who graduates from high school this year, and Ahmad, an ambitious 5th grader. Needless to say, their lives have forever been changed. While life has abruptly stopped for The Fords, the rest of the world keeps moving forward, leaving bills due and stress at an all-time high.

To help alleviate stress wherever I can, I asked Caretha if I could create the go-fund me on her behalf, she agreed and was beyond grateful. I am hoping you are able to donate whatever you can, to help us reach our goal. As well as share this link with your networks and beyond.
