Caren and Jon's Fire Recovery Fund

Donation protected
In the early hours of the morning, Sunday, March 2, 2019, my mom, Caren Biro, and little brother, Jonathan Biro, survived a terrible condominium fire at South Fork Creek Condominiums on Rio Grande Circle in Florence, KY.  The fire was initially started in Building #35, Unit #5 which began destroying that building before spreading to Building #33 connected to it.  It was started due to the negligence of the renter who lived in unit #5 which ended up causing many losing everything and the entire 24 units to be evacuated.  For those whose units weren’t affected, there will be a result of smoke damage, water damage from the firefighters putting the fire out, and cold damage.  On top of the lose of the personal property, the tenants will be displaced for a minimum of 6 months while they try to rebuild the buildings.  This includes tearing the roof off and exposing the units to the elements.

My mom has worked so hard recreating everything in their home for her and my brother, who is 15-years old at attends Randall Cooper High School.  When she left an abusive marriage to start over here, she worked rebuilding a safe and lovely home for her and Jon.  Everything was great until late Saturday night.  Because of someone’s careless and stupidity, my mom and brother lost everything.  It is very frustrating to see her, and many lose things and become homeless as they are having to obey and bend to the rules of the Homeowner’s Association who have chosen to keep people out while possessions sit and ruin.

Yes, we are so thankful and grateful she and Jon are alive and safe.  But then the reality sets in that they have lost everything and will have to start over again.  It was not an accident, it was someone’s carelessness and stupidity that took everything away from them.

At this point, they’ve escaped with some trash bags full of clothes and will need assistance from anyone willing to help.  Her goal is to be able to gather funds to obtain a new place and be able to furnish and fill it again.  Her landlord has been phenomenal in trying to help her through this, but even his hands are tied.  Will you please help my mom, Caren, and my brother, Jon, as they try to put the pieces of their lives back together?  I know they would be so very grateful.  I promise you that she is one of the kindest people you will ever met.  Everyone calls her “Momma Caren” because she loves everyone.  Please help them.  This is so sad to watch them go through this.  If you can’t, please feel free to share and help get the awareness out to others.  Lastly, please continue to send prayers to those affected in this terrible tragedy.
