Caregiving and end of life expenses for Joan

Donation protected
I just wanted to update everyone, mom passed yesterday May 30th. She passed peacefully at home, with me present to help and reassure her that it was time and she could relax and let go. She struggled with dementia for years, and it must have been a relief to leave her bed and confusion behind. But I want to thank you all so deeply, because of you I was able to spend this time at home with her, caring for her, and helping her on her journey. She wasn’t alone, or with strangers. She felt loved and safe. And that’s all I wanted for her. Thank you all so much, and RIP mom

I just want to thank everyone for all of their donations and kind words. It means so much to me that folks are willing to help my mom and me. Just know that the funds are going to hire some extra help so we can make my mom as comfortable as possible until the end

Hello, many of you know and love my mom, Joan White, and if you don’t know her you probably know me, her daughter Rosey. As most of you know she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s over two years ago, and this has created a lot of extra time, and money, and caregiving on my part. This last fall I moved home to full time caretake because her needs have increased greatly.
Sadly last month she started having mini strokes, and is now on hospice care. I have applied to, and have been waiting for months, for VA benefits for her because my dad was a wartime veteran. I fear that when I do receive them she will have passed. So, full time caregiving with no siblings to support has been extremely challenging and emotionally exhausting, and I am unable to work at all. She’s mostly non verbal and not eating at this point, and so my worries are compounded by the expenses we will have after she passes, and how much work her house needs from years of neglect due to her disease.
My mother worked for years in nonprofit as a chemical dependency counselor, and I’m hoping her endless work helping others will come back to her now.
If anyone of you knew my mom she was a fun loving and strong person who helped other when she could, was endlessly generous, and funny as hell. She’s lived in Vashon for 50 plus years, and I have kept my promise to let her die at home.
Anything to aide in her care is so greatly appreciated.
