The patriarch of our family, Pete Plaxa, has been living with progressive multiple sclerosis (MS) since 1986.  Although Pete enjoyed relative health for the first twenty years after his diagnosis,  over the last decade, MS has rapidly stolen nearly all of Pete's physical mobility. His condition requires round-the-clock care from four caregivers and his wife of 35 years, Kathy.

Despite the  extreme challenges Pete faces on a daily basis, he is still employed in sales, as he has been for over 40 years, and does not receive disability payments. Unfortunately, his employment excludes him from caregiver assistance programs.

The cost of paying Pete's caregivers exceeds $3,000 a month. In addition to sky-high medical expenses and the typical day-to-day bills any family has, paying necessary caregivers has placed a profound financial burden on Kathy and Pete, one which they have understandably struggled to carry alone.

 Our goal of $36k will cover the wages of Pete's wonderful caregivers for one year. 

Anyone who has ever met him knows how much he loves life and people. Our Pops has always cared for us, even when in describable pain, so we hope to do the same for him.
